Shebara is a 73-key hyper-luxury eco-resort on Sheybarah Island in Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Archipelago. Developed by Red Sea Global, the project is a pioneering model of regenerative luxury, aligning with Vision 2030 to deliver a fully off-grid, net-zero destination that protects and enhances one of the world’s most pristine marine environments. The resort offers a mix of overwater and beach villas ranging from one to four bedrooms, supported by high-end dining, a spa, wellness facilities, private beaches, and family and adult pools. Guests travel exclusively by seaplane or private boat, reinforcing the sense of isolation and disconnection. A fully electric transport system ensures movement across the island is zero-emission, while dedicated butler service creates a deeply personalised experience. Architecture is inspired by the island’s natural palette of waters, sands, and horizons. The stainless steel overwater villas are designed as floating orbs, recalling pearls suspended above the sea, reflecting shifting light and colour. All structures were placed with millimetre precision to avoid disruption to land and seabed, using steel pilings instead of dredging or concrete foundations. Sustainability drives every decision. A solar-powered microgrid provides 100% renewable energy, eliminating the need for diesel generators. Water is produced through solar desalination, wastewater is recycled on-site, and solid waste is composted or reused, supporting a zero-waste ethos. Materials, particularly marine-grade stainless steel, were chosen for durability, recyclability, and low embodied carbon. Located beside a 40-metre reef drop-off, Shebara offers direct access to world-class diving. Beyond conservation, it actively contributes to restoration through one of the world’s largest coral gardening initiatives, regenerating over 300 football fields of reef. Shebara is more than a destination—it is a regenerative model of hospitality where architecture, nature, and technology converge to shape the future of sustainable luxury.
