A third project commission for beautiful clients saw us restore this classical Paddington terrace to its former glory with classical detailing and a contemporary overlay of joinery and lighting.

The brief was to renovate an original Paddington terrace, maximizing storage and functionality and adding layers of texture and comfort in a neutral, calming palette. The original terrace kitchen was reconfigured and renovated to create a better flow from front to rear, maximizing storage and functionality in a timeless palette of durable finishes and a neutral, calming palette. A poky ground-floor laundry space was reconfigured to create a spacious bathroom laundry combo and the original first-floor bathroom was completely renovated for modern family living. Layers of texture and comfort were added throughout with fresh paint, timber flooring, carpet, window treatments, lighting, furniture, soft furnishings, art, and accessories. The original cornice was reinstated and doorways opened up to connect the spaces. Tone and texture rule in this neutral palette of creams and whites.

Classic and contemporary forms and materials bring layers of warmth and interest to the scheme. An economical materials palette creates impactful design and clever savings to transform the tired interior into a fresh and inviting home. The terrace kitchen was reconfigured and refreshed with tumbled floor tiles, classic framed flat panel joinery, and dark stone benchtops. Generous storage was maximized with floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, an integrated fridge, and a concealed bin drawer. An island bench adds additional drawer storage and a practical perch for morning coffee and weekend entertaining. Rubbed bronze joinery hardware and black decorative lighting add a sophisticated finish to the tonal palette.

Working with an old terrace house comes with many design challenges. We worked to open up cramped, dark corridors for spatial flow and natural light. The kitchen is so much more functional thanks to the reconfiguration and refresh. There is a place for everything and everything in its place with additional seating for casual meals and entertaining, capturing the natural light and courtyard garden views beyond.

Sustainable outcomes were achieved through the extensive use of reclaimed materials and the repositioning of key openings to maximize natural light and ventilation. The project addresses contemporary sustainability imperatives through its fundamental design approach and key features. Careful integration of the existing built form and its extended landscape creates a holistic environment that promotes physical and mental well-being and encourages a sustainable lifestyle. The extensive use of reclaimed materials such as timber and marble reduces waste and minimizes the project’s carbon footprint. The addition of skylights and the repositioning of key openings maximize natural light and ventilation, reducing energy consumption and promoting indoor air quality. Smart spatial planning maximizes the original floor area for practical storage and luxurious everyday living, avoiding unnecessary expansion and reducing resource consumption. Custom furniture was designed and commissioned throughout to create unique, heirloom pieces that complement collected antiques and travel treasures. This approach emphasizes the importance of artisan craftsmanship and reconditioned keepsakes, reducing the environmental impact of mass-produced items. A timeless selection of quality fixtures and fittings ensures the enduring sustainability of the home for generations to come. Overall, the project demonstrates a thoughtful and holistic approach to sustainability through its design and execution.

設計結合經典與現代的元素，透過精選的材質和工藝注入溫暖和層次感。經濟實惠的材料運用，既提升設計表現又達到成本節省，成功將老舊空間轉化為令人耳目一新的居所。廚房鋪設復古滾邊地磚，搭配經典框架細木工和平滑的深色石材檯面，打造出實用又美觀的空間。落地式櫥櫃、整合冰箱和隱藏垃圾桶抽屜有效提升儲存容量，中島則兼具實用性和美感，成為早餐及聚會的理想場所。磨砂青銅和黑色元素的運用，為設計注入精緻細節。

面對舊有聯排別墅的挑戰，我們打破狹窄和昏暗的走廊限制，改善空間流動並引入自然光線。重新設計的廚房在功能和美觀上取得平衡，擁有充足的儲存與座位空間，能欣賞庭院的美景。這一切的設計旨在融入自然光與通風，實現舒適又永續的生活方式。
