The Drainage of Jade
To create a living environment surrounded by trees, and to make the residential space be embraced by the forest, the design team tried to combine the original landscape with the site, forming a forest figure. The space with rich species buffers the environmental impact from the construction. The site is like a piece of green puzzle fitting together with the city. The planning of paths and lawn provides stepping stones for species which connect the natural landscape with the architecture, bringing out the vibe and vitality of the open space as the resplendent jade with veins.
With the design of multi-layered planting and loop layout, the open space is perfectly utilized. Passengers are guided both on primary and secondary routes. Sidewalk is paved with cold-colored flooring; greenery is introduced abundantly because of the setback. Besides, the design team planted beech trees, which represents the blessing of reaching great achievement and wealth, along two sides of the path; the path accompanying the multi-layered planting makes the sidewalk comfortable and pedestrian-friendly. Along with the path, the route is prolonged subtly by designing it in arc at the east-south edge, blending with arbors, which color varies seasonally, such as rosy trumpet tree, sapindus, and madagascar almond. As for the west-north edge, the architecture setback vacants the space for Pistacia as the spotlight; the ever-green Batoko plum tree embellishes the neat aura of the corner. The cellular fence is installed along with the sidewalk to secure the safety of residents, as well as divide the public and private area. The welcoming feature, a fountain, placed at the entrance in the middle of the sidewalk is designed by the terrain.
The elegant frangipani planted along the waterscape is a metaphor for planting seeds of hope; the overlapping feature walls form the welcoming area simple and elegant. Walk up the ramp, a water feature comes to one’s sight. Staircases with layers, overlapping feature walls and fencing walls, combining with green plants, a visual feast along the pathway is provided. Walk west along the ramp to the semi-outdoor platform with artworks and water features, enjoying the leisure and artistic rest area. As for the west of the courtyard, minimalist design is the starting point. Design elliptic curve pavement to broaden the vision of pocket park figure and plant graceful deciduous cypress with seasonal color changes as vista, creating a simple and tranquil space.
To establish the eco-friendly layout, the design team used multi-layered planting to adjust microclimate, to save the energy consumed by air conditioner, and to smoothen the effect of urban heat island. The wide lawn and planting provide not only a sufficient space for plants to grow, but a platform for the residents to recognize Taiwanese indigenous species. Besides, residents have more chances to interact with each other. Cultural aesthetics is presented in the community, and the traditional village form is able to be handed down.
